| Manifesto of Design |
My life is established on the foundations of truth: On the belief that truth can be known and discovered, that there is meaning in my life and in others, the rejection of nihilism and hedonism, that there are choices in life that are wrong, and choices in life that are right, that there is redemption in life. Redemption is key because of the nature of our existence. I believe that it is the nature of existence to be flawed and imperfect; that nothing in life can avoid the suffering or the wrong that our choices have brought us to. But I believe that faith in something greater, faith in redemption, faith in truth, faith in hope can bring us to the redemption that will atone for flaws in discernment, flaws in strength, flaws in character, and flaws in idea. Redemption is what lets our creation get better as we test them, get stronger as they fail, grow as they become insecure and insignificant. However, redemption of our own creation can only come through choice. Choice is important, because life begins at the moment of choice. I become more alive when I make the choices that define who I am. If I am not constantly choosing my path, I am like dead weight, being carried by rapids. Every choice that I make is one that defines me, creates me, shapes me, constrains me, or forces me to grow. Because of this, discernment becomes crucial to choice. The discernment that I use determines who I create myself to be. This is because life, as well as my design process begins with unlimited creativity through possibility. Discernment requires seeking truth, and here, I arrive at the same place that I began. Truth: The belief that truth can be known and discovered, that there is meaning in my life and in others, the rejection of nihilism and hedonism, that there are choices in life that are wrong, and choices in life that are right, that there is redemption in life. These ideas will challenge people; question people; provoke people; and anger people. But I will promote ideas that are true. |
